Saw the 30,000 banana 'contemporary art' piece in Metro this morning. Just ever so slightly distasteful when just yesterday I was reading about Midge Ure's return to Ethiopia and the plight of the starving.

I can appreciate art for talent but bananas...??!! The world's gone mad.

Pre coffee Metro is about the only thing I can manage. I buy a copy of The Times too but that always needs to wait until lunch time when my brain has woken up!! ; )

The bananas were available for the taking after 3pm, and any still left by the evening were given to homeless shelters. So not really such a waste of food.

Apparently a gentleman of the road attempted to take some of the bananas earlier than 3pm. He was chased, the bananas rescued and he was informed he could come back later for them, and he told the artist it was wrong to play with food .

ruck and maul - were you in disguise?
