Hi everyone,

Me and 'im indoors' have a family wedding to attend in August which is medieval themed.

I was wondering if any of you had any ideas of a good hire place, doesn`t have to be in SE1 but easily accessible by tube.

Most of the ones I have found on the web look rather tacky and as its a wedding we wanted something a bit less party orientated.

Another factor is that we are both quite large and size 14 wenchs costumes just won`t do!
Also cost is a major issue, no remortgaging costs please.

Hope one of you has an idea, its driving me barmy looking!

There is a fancy dress hire shop in Camden, turn left out of the tube and then across the junction, it's a bit further up on the left, they have quite a good range of costumes for hire, though I've only used them for bits and bobs so can't vouch for quality. Or try Angels www.fancydress.co.uk they have a big range of costumes to buy and rent.

Good luck!

Google maps is about to rule the world I think. Here is the result from a 'local search' for fancy dress based on SE1 (none in the Borough, but a few nearby worth exploring maybe). At least you can phone round...

You might need to copy and paste the link together as it's so long - if it doesn't work try this (another amazing Internet invention...)

The Soho addresses might take a slightly more liberated view to fancy dress than you find entirely comfortable of course...

or save time and go straight to MadWorld
which seems to have all the medieveal costumes in the world (in Tabernacle Street, EC2)

Their list of medieval gear:

LOL! What about trying Club Wicked? They might have a few Inquisition type costumes lying unused.

rather pay for a costume, than have to talk to the people who re-enact old battles.

What about The Lions Part group of actors who do a lot of wassailing and so on in the area. They have some pretty good kit and will know how to get hold of something suitable.
