Birdie and I were talking the other day about people who post on the forum who we haven't met and whose usernames are not gender-specific, and there was one poster that I assumed was a man and she assumed was a woman. Then today I saw Ivanhoe's post referring to phoney as he, then apologising if he was incorrect. And it started me thinking - male or female?

amc22? I thought male, Birdie thought female.

kmitchell? I used to think male but now think female.

markandjoan? I always assume it's Mark posting, but maybe it's Joan as well.

tebbers - I assume male but have no basis for this assumption

wjfox2004 - I assume male as surely no woman would be so obsessed with tall buildings? But maybe Freudians would disagree with me.

Looking back at that list I seem to assume everyone is male unless they have a specifically female name!

Phoney: I always thought it was female, but think he is a man now
Amc22: must be a man
markandjoan: gay couple
tebbers: male
wjfox2004: male

Always wondered about 'a Man called Tharg', though

Gosh, this is intriguing...um, have always thought phoney to be a man...I think women tend to have sort of girlie names, I mean, Birdie or TLMJJ couldnt possibly be male. On the otherhand the lately-returned-to-Singapore softhands was decidedly male and I had quite a surprise....so there you go. Hopefully we shall get some more people to show their hand (well, we wouldnt want them to show anything else would we now?) on Nov. 5th to see the fireworks on our terrace.

On meeting softhands I said "oooh, I thought you were going to be a girl". When I met Curly I was suprised she was a girl.

Am convinced amc22 is female. Please let us know.

Does this mean Birdie and TLMJJ are ladies?

[edited to add: I've been gay, and a woman, and a heterosexual man who's not gettign enough sex, according to people on here. I've also been Mapmaker, apparently - "but I've never been to me"]

...if you press it, they will come.

Actually we are far more regal than that... princess would be more suitable
