I have a '.net' email adress, created through MSN/Hotmail (eg. something@somename.net)
I can use it as a passport for MSN sites, and yet when I try and use hotmail on the web it says my email name is not supported.

... so, does anyone know how I can get access to send and receive email at this address?

I think I can set up outlook so that it can receive messages, but I don't know how, or what the settings are.

any help here would be appreciated.

What's the domain name? (The bit after the @)

I didn't know Msn Hotmail did .net accounts. I have my name at hotmail.com and hotmail.co.uk
I also use a phoney hotmail.com email as an Msn passport for groups. I certainly wouldn't advise
using your real name for an email address as a login for an msn group. Giving your details to all
and sundry is not a good idea.
Go to http://login.passport.net and create an anonymous .co.uk email for groups.

I also have myfirstname@mysurname.net from http://www.nameplanet.com which I only use for
friends and family and never gets spam.

Then you won't be able to receive email at that address unless you register the domain yourself!
