What a brilliant Idea
According to the south London press there is a plan to rebuild crystal palace to the
original 1851 great exhibition ,hyde park design,at crystal
palace.

It would be smaller than the original but to the original
specifications.

It would also be ready for 2012.

I Think it will be a massive s success and a huge crowd puller.

and about time to.

Hmmm - the LDA et al try every trick in the book to get a commercial development in the park and local people manage to see them off. Then they come up with the idea of hiding all the shops in a replica of the Crystal Palace hoping that people will not realise that they are going ahead with the proposals to build on the park that were so unpopular in the first place.

No thanks - I'd rather keep as much of the park as possible myself.

Errr - I think I can blame the mild concussion I incurred from a bang on the head earlier for the post above..

It isn't a proposed commercial development and is separate from the LDA's plans. Still I would be dubious about the need for any further building on the park.

Now I'm off to get some ice to keep the bump on my forehead down!

Come on

where do you think Crystal Palace Park gets its name from.

Throwing up (I use the term advisedly) a faux Crystal Palace - which no way would even approach the scale and 'wow' of the original strikes me as being similar to the cod architectural 'marvels' of Las Vegas. As Neil said in his first Post, a way to eat into parkland for commercial gain.

Bad idea. Nostalgia is false and part of the magic of Crystal Palace is that it burnt down and does not exist anymore.

Well Alexandra palace sort of adds something special to Alexandra palace park,

Yes

So I sort of feel Crystal palace would put the palace back into crystal palace park,
