My sis told me tonight that Joe Brown is playing at this. How wonderful! He starred in my favourite ever film featuring Bermondsey: Three Hats for Lisa. (Actually, it's the only film I know that featured Bermondsey so heavily, and I think it's greatly under-rated - you can't even get it on DVD, but I think I'm going to start a campaign to get C4 to screen it again soon.)

Oh, I do hope he sings Sid James's "Bermondsey" song from the film...

You've seen what every tourist
Who's a picture postcard purist
Seen as much as French and Dutch and Greeks and such have seen
But now we're going to show you
It's the least we feel we owe you
The greatest place in London
It's called Ber-mond-sey

Tell 'er Sid

Oh, oh, oh Bermondsey
That's home to me
I'm waiting for the moment when I can see
The happy, laughing razor-slashed faces of the people I lo-ove

Back home in Bermondsey
Oh gosh oh gee
Gee oh gosh I'd like to cosh that copper you see
For sending off the Holloway and Brixton all the people I love

I've so many childhood memories
Of that quaint old-fashioned town
It had a quaint old-fashioned school-house
Til the schoolkids burnt it down

Oh oh oh Bermondey

(There's a verse about being able to buy stolen booze under the counter, too, but I can't remember the words... The song ends up comparing Bermondsey to Napoli (where Lisa is from in the film). I haven't been to Napoli so can't comment on its authenticity.)

Your brilliant mind is cluttered with superfluous matter, TLMJJ, just think of the space that song is taking up when it could be filled with rocket science....

You and Birdie need more beauty sleep.

Vicious that Jackie. Note how she's tossing out insults from the safety of Tel Aviv.

Who are the very special guests though?

Bands that haven't confirmed yet or those that we wouldn't have heard of anyway?

Just wondered.

I cannot name them until after Sunday due to
then playing a 'ticket' gig in London on Saturday 10th June. The clues are....
The late Ian Dury's band....oops..!!
