This is slightly off topic I will admit, but taking a punt since I'm discussing other topics here: does anyone know any "nice" bus services that do the London-Manchester route?

In other words if I don't want to take the train (long story) or the cheapo buses eg Megabus/National Rial, is there any sort of mid range or nice bus service that services thsis route? Thanks.

National express coaches go from london ( canary wharf or victoria i think) to manchest for about 10.00 I have used them over the years to go to derby and found them really good..

You can get Megabus-like fares on National Express - I've travelled to Poole in Dorset for 1 several times and it's very easy to get those on the Manchester route too, it would seem. You need to use http://www.nationalexpress.com/save/funfares.cfm to get the cheap fares.

Found absolutely loads of 1 fares on there to Derby for you, Jan!
