The last couple of days have seen:

- first beef stew since spring
- first porridge since spring
- heating turned on for the first time since spring
- first extra blanket since spring

Mulled wine and fluffy slippers coming soon.

So cosy :)

I had my first porridge this morning as well. I love this time of year and the transition to winter. Tonight it will be roasted pumpkin with garlic and sea salt.

I too had my 'first porridge of winter' moment this morning. However, it was 'Oatso Simple' [does that count?] + with a dash of organic honey, of course. Still resistng central heating switch on, but have a feeling it may be required by this evening..

made my first soup of the winter yesterday. Not had heating on yet. Squirrel have been digging my plants up to bury food so I guess a cold snap may be coming soon.

I cut them in chunks similar to big fat chips. Olive oil, sea salt, garlic and some rosemary if you have.

Mmm. Yum. Squash and pumpkin go well with sage too, I find.

and butternut squash (chunks) braised with garlic, ginger and cinnamon, then stirred into a decent tomato-sauce makes a wicked addition to pasta (shells)
