I recently bought a new CD player for my separates system; my old player had become rather temperamental. The speakers now emit a low buzz when my (new) CD player is switched on - something that never happened before. I can't see anything wrong with the connections. Could someone a bit more electrically/electronically savvy than I am shed any light on this?

Hi mate

You are suffering from mains hum - commonly known as a Ground Loop problem. Have a look at that article or try a Google - it's a well known problem for Hi-Fi, especially separates.

However, the solution may be simple and cheap - you need to get yourself a Ground Loop Isolator.

Maplin do them for 9.

Amazon do them for 2-45.

Good luck!
