Has anyone got any good ideas about the best way to go about repairing a scratch on a leather sofa?

I'm trying to find the receipts etc., as I think it came with some kind of insurance/accidental damage repair thing that I hope will cover it, but in case I'm wrong or it has run out can anyone recommend a repairer ot a repair product? I thought perhaps a neutral leather polish might cover it up?

I have found this type of stuff on the web:

but I am wary of using it in case I make a mess and/or end up with a more prominent mark than I have now.

What colour is the sofa? This must make a difference.

You could ask the guy at Cobbler's Nest (Eric) what he would do.

It is a dark brown. I was thinking of going in to the cobblers on TBR at the weekend to see if shoe/leather coat repair would cross over.
