"You have an error in your SQL syntax..." - what to do

Some users may be seeing unexpected SQL error messages.

If you are seeing these messages, try clicking on each of these links in turn:

That should reset the 'new' flags on your account and avoid the errors described.

(This problem is caused by our server running an older version of MySQL than the minimum officially required by Phorum)

And the good news is that this error message should finally be a thing of the past in the next couple of weeks.

Testing is now underway on our new server. The forum is working, but the same can't be said for the scripts which power the news section.

OK, I've made a slight change which means these errors are 10 times less likely to show up.

However, it's only a temporary fix, and I will try to upgrade MySQL over the Christmas break so we can start 2006 SQL error-free...
