RSS feeds
James Hatts Saturday 7 January 2006 4.15pm
I'm now working through the various comments and ideas received via our recent suggestion box exercise and acting on them.
First up - you asked for more RSS feeds.
We now have a page where you can see at a glance all the feeds we offer:
http://www.london-se1.co.uk/rss.html
More feeds will be added this year, including one for updates to the restaurants/pubs/bars section.
As someone mentioned, I am aware that we sometimes have issues with character encoding which can cause problems with some feed readers. I'm on the case.

As promised, the forum RSS feed now validates properly - so should hopefully load properly in all feed readers.
Thanks to those who mentioned this via the suggestion box.

Thanks James.
The RSS is working a treat. I was one of the people who reported the problem so I've checked it frequently this week and it seems that everything is working okay now, in particular £ symbols are good.
I look forward to RSS feeds for the restuarant section.
Many thanks,
Richard

Probably not the most useful feed ever, but you can now get the last 10 additions to the restaurants directory:
http://www.london-se1.co.uk/restaurants/rss
In the future we'll have feeds for updated entries too.

Should also mention that every events venue in our new What's on section has its own RSS feed:

James,
I have been using the individual forum feeds (i.e. SE1 Discussion, Chatter, Socials etc) with an Nokia 770 for a while now - with great success.
When I try to plug the "global" feed in (i.e http://www.london-se1.co.uk/forum/rss) it instantly crashes the newsreader.
Do you have any idea what might cause that ? The Nokia 770 runs on Maemo so I regret I've got absolutely no idea how to debug it or check why the feed won't validate.
Perfectly happy to stick with the individual ones, but thought I should mention it.

That's odd; both the individual and the global RSS feeds are generated by the same script.
I use the 'global' feed to keep tabs on the forum myself, so it should work.
And feedvalidator.org reckons it's a valid feed.
