As of last Monday the following is illegal:
Falsely claiming or creating the impression that the trader is not acting for purposes relating to his/her trade, business, craft or profession, or falsely representing oneself as a consumer.
We will continue to 'name and shame' those who we find to be misleading users of this website in such a way.
I should reiterate that there is no blanket prohibition on local businesses participating in the forum; indeed they are most welcome
to seek and respond to feedback about their services or lend their expertise to a topic under discussion. Just make sure you are upfront about your business affiliation.
But people who start threads just to promote themselves - either covertly or overtly - are not welcome.
If in any doubt about what is appropriate or not, feel free to ask. This avoids any possibility of misunderstanding or embarrassment.
