Deleting posts

How about allowing a poster an hour in which a post can be deleted? Although I admit if I paid more attention it wouldn't be necessary.
Most forums allow you to delete a post at any time.

I had thought this option was already available, but perhaps it's not.

I'll be upgrading the forum software soon-ish so that would be a good time to review the editing/deleting options that are available.

Allowing users to delete posts at any time is not a good idea. A user goes off in a huff - or indeed, leaves the area, leaves the forum, deletes all his posts, and thus valuable information disappears.

Absolutely - it would have to be time-limited - possibly less than an hour.

But quite often people post something and then realise there's another pertinent thread, or post a duplicate message by mistake, and it would be reasonable if they could clean up the problem without moderator intervention.
