I am currently staying in SE1 through the week and have been looking for something to do of an evening. This led me to think that it might be possible to assemble a group of folk to arrange “The Inaugural SE1 McGonagall Supper”.
The famous Scot, William Topaz McGonagall, is purported to have been the worst poet in the history of the English Language.
Amogst others, fans of his work have included Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan and Billy Connolly.
A McGonagall evening is somewhat like a Burns Supper although it runs back to front i.e. it starts with the vote of thanks, followed by sweet and then makes its way through to the starter and finishes with Grace. Typically, such an evening appeals to those of us that do not take life too seriously.
Are any of you interested in meeting up socially on a regular basis with the preparation for the Supper as a loose backdrop to our gatherings?
