Poker in SE1

My husband, Tony, and our new neighbour would like to play poker locally. Anybody else fancy playing in a friendly game? The venue would be a pub such as the Britannia and it would something like a tenner to play.

would pubs let us play poker? don't they need some kind of license?
could we meet at someones house, and change location each time?

According to Tony, as long as you all play for chips rather than money, it shouldn't be a problem. Tony was going to have word with the landlord anyway. The point of going down the pub is to allow us girlies to get together whilst not disturbing the players' concentration (usually blokes).

What??? I can just about play Solitaire on my computer ... I don't think Tony would want me to play because I am useless at keeping a straight face ;-)

still sounds like a good idea now that I've sobered up. I look forward to losing all my chips (and not to Jackie this time either)!

I'd be interested.
Complete novice. Or am I?
(In fact I am .... how many players do you think we might need)

I have been reliably informed by Tony that 6 is a good number for poker. Looks like we are almost there, Puppy ...
