Hi All,

I live in SE1 and will be moving abroad for a couple of years and looking to let out my flat in the interim period.

Does anyone have experience of the local letting agents and can provide recommendations? Which are the most competitive in terms of price but also provide a decent service?

Any advice is much appreciated.

David.

I would also like some experience reviews on this!

I have spoken with Hamptons, Cluttons, Felicity J Lord (or Foxtons) and Anderson Rose about letting my apartment out. (Hamptons, Cluttons and FJL/ Foxtons was two years ago)

Foxtons or Felicity J Lord (can't recall which one) gave me the lowest valuation, and had the highest fees.

Cluttons were average on both.

Hamptons had the lowest fees and the highest valuation.

Anderson Rose specialise in Shad Thames, were very personable and have pretty standard rates but are very flexible.

I have not yet contracted any - so have no actual experience, but will need to shortly and if anyone has feedback on any of the agents would be much appreciated.

Dear all,

We provide guaranteed rent in your area and have tenants waiting to move in. You could receive rental income for october!!

-Full maintenance cover at our cot, which means that your property will be returned to you in the internal condition that it was left in.

- No rent arrears, we will pay you rent in all periods whether there is a tenant in the property or not. The national landlord association says that on average there is a 60 day empty period between tenants. As such our guaranteed rent will ensure you receive a higher net income than any letting agents who do not cover these eventualities.

-We cover all evictions costs

We currently manage over 400 properties in london and have 25 years of experience in the industry.

If you would like more information or a free brochure sent to you please call me on 0203 5877108, visit www.thelondonlandlord.com or email me on kirstymac@thelondonlandlord.com

Hi David,
I've used Martin&Co (near London Bridge, on Tooley Street) for the past couple of years. They're a small(ish) franchise of a larger group. They have found me good tenants, which was my main concern, and have got me competitive rents.
Anyhoo, the fact that I am taking the time to promote them is the best indicator that I'm happy with the job they do.
All the best TT

Hi all
I have one to avoid...
We rented our place via Acorn about two years ago while abroad with work.

They were terrible.

Inspections were never carried out despite them being contracted and us requesting them several times.

When we moved back in there was very obvious damage that they had not put on the outgoing inventory report. They eventually admitted fault and paid for this to be rectified, however that took nearly a year of constant chasing.

We also received incorrect payment demands well after we'd stopped using them.
So I'd not use them for managing a rental.

On the flipside a few friends have used them for sales and they've been good there.

I haven't used them myself, but Young London who are based on Great Suffolk Street seem to be pretty good based on the number of awards they've won over recent years. Apparently they won best UK lettings agency 2013/14
http://www.younglondon.co.uk/index.php/about/article/award-winning-service
They're also offering first 3 months with no fee.
No connection to them, they're just on the ground floor of my building and personally, I'd rather work with local small agency than national like Foxtons etc if I was going to rent my place.
Good luck!

Hi David,

My company name is RE/MAX Vision. We are a small office based in SE1. We specialise in residential sales and lettings. We focus on good customer services on a personal level. If you are moving abroad I can appreciate the importance of getting a reliable agent to look after it whilst you away, would you consider me as that agent?

Could I offer you a market appraisal without you having to feel any obligation in return? Please contact me at amy.dang@remax.co.uk or visit my facebook
