Shared ownership solicitor recommendation?

We're just had our application accepted for purchase of a shared ownership property in Southwark, and are now looking around for solicitors. Having never purchased a property in our life, we've got no experience dealing with solicitors, and don't really know where to start.

Just wondering if anybody has any recommendations on solicitors who specialise with shared ownership? There are lots I can find by searching online, but I was curious if there's anyone in the SE1 area (perferably near London Bridge), so we could have the personal aspect of being able to pop in to resolve queries, should the need arise.

Many thanks.

We used Direction Law who made it a relatively smooth process. They are used to shared ownership transactions:

They are based in Canterbury but this wasn't an issue (we were dealing with them from London too). Easy to contact on phone and email for any arising issues.

I bought a shared ownership flat in Bermondsey Spa using http://www.humphreys.co.uk/ and specifically, Carol Bedford.

The main thing is to find ones who know what they're doing with shared ownership as it is quite different.

I completed last December, so if you have any more general questions, feel free to message directly. I know it's a stressful time.

Cheers,
Sam

Direction Law get a thumbs up from me too. Very quick and hassle free. It helped that someone else in the building had already used them for their purchase, so a good bit of the checks had been done and necessary documents were to hand.

I don't know if you have any way of talking to your new neighbours before you move in (maybe some of them are in the building already?), but it might be worth contacting them and using the same solicitor. Maybe your housing association could put you in touch with them? Worth a shot...

I used http://www.ctwsolicitors.org.uk/

They are not the most proactive ones, so if you have many questions you will never get an answer! But they did the job and price was the lowest on the market. Fees are very clear and no surprises.

Thanks for all the responses guys. In the end went with Marsons in Bromley, as it turns out they're dealing with others on the same development/lease, which should make things easier.

Fingers crossed it all goes ok. It's very early days at the moment, but we're hoping the whole process doesn't take too long. Apparently everything has to be wrapped up within 28 days of a memorandum of sale being issued. Let's see if that timeline works out...

Yeah I was with Direction Law. Took a risk on them as they were cheaper than an alternative solicitor quote, and was worried I'd get a worse service. They were fine.
