Do you want to know what that flat across the road cost?
Mentioned in a couple of papers at the weekend, this new service had direct access to the Land Registry database (as do some others like http://www.myhouseprice.com
which charges £1 per house price retrieved) so you can find out what was actually paid (as opposed to what estate agents told you, or what your landlord told you!). Covers last two years at moment, shortly to stretch back another two. About a three month delay (ie shows prices up to October).
It will be a paid-for service, but this site is FREE for another 10-12 days, during their launch period, so two minutes to register then you can search by street or simply enter SE1 to see the full range of frightening prices paid recently in the area.
Interesting, scary or depressing depending on whether you're nosy, paranoid or saving up...
No connection, just currently a very keen observer of local price movements :-(
