Laithwaites import and sell good wine, not just wine from any particular region (which is why they changed their name from Bordeaux Direct).

I will certainly try their shop as I used to buy their wine by mail order and their call centre service was second to none. Went in there in the middle of last week (when they were "softly open" to quote the mgr). They've done a very nice job with lighting the space, but to my eyes the range is nothing at all special, and the presentation of the stock is unexceptional.

For me, Majestic did a few wine regions in depth, whereas Laithwaites appeared to be trying to cover the world thinly. And the staff weren't particularly friendly, either. A very knowledgeable group of staff which is excellent. I hope it doesnt take too much trade away from Waterloo Wine, however.
