last night two young guys walked into the flats next to Blue Lion Place (the yellow brick building on the other side of Blue Lion Place from the Simon the Tanner), i was waiting for someone and decided to see what they were up to-they disappeared from view then reappeared and walked to the back of the building-i made it very obvious i was watching and put my phone to my ear as if calling someone-they very quickly walked up and shouted at me they were looking for some where to take a leak. They then crossed the road and walked through the car park of Archdale House giving me dirty looks all the time. Don't know if it was the same two guys

I met with a Police Officer, yesterday, in my flat. He completed a form, around 10 questions, which has my name on it. However, I showed him the SE1 Forum thread and another email.

He was with me for around 20 minutes. Unfortunately, because of recent 'internal reorganising', he was unaware of previous problems as there is now no record on their database. I brought him up to speed.

In the event of anyone needing assistance from the Police, they should call 101 [for non urgent matters] and 999 [for urgent cases] or email:

SouthwarkGrange.snt@met.police.uk

Website: www.met.police.uk/saferneighbourhoods

He also told me that he had seen a couple of lads sitting on the wall, adjacent to Vesta Court, as he arrived - they ran off.

I agree that the police, etc., should be informed of suspicious activity. I only hope the police responses in your area are better than here.

Recent examples:

A group of under-age, drunken youths walking past my house. One threw a half full can of beer over my front hedge. I challenged him and he picked it up, gave me a torrent of abuse and hurled the can across the road, almost hitting a parked car. The police refused to attend.

A taxi driver who drove off with my daughter's money saying he didn't have any change and would return shortly. He never returned. I phoned the police and they at first refused to attend. It was, they said,
"A civil matter."
Only when I kicked up a right old fuss and asked when theft ceased to become a crime, did they send a young policewoman round....Two days later.

A woman and her four badly behaved children in McDonalds. When my daughter's friend politely complained about the youngest child kicking her chair, she had a milkshake thrown in her face by the eldest child; a thirteen year-old girl. The police refused to attend.

The more the cuts to our police force bite, the less they will respond to anything other than serious crime, and so the more we have to look out for ourselves.

A neighbour of mine once spotted 3 suspicious youths hanging around an elderly neighbour's place down the road. We "recruited" two more guys from our block and just walked past, without paying attention, just chatting and making our presence felt. We got to the end of the street and turned back. From a distance, we saw the youths make their way. We kept an eye on the lady's house, but never saw the youths again.
