But I think technically the criteria for having a pelican crossing instead of a zebra crossing depends on factors such as the average speed of cars and the level of traffic etc.. Presumably the crossing was "upgraded" in response to changes in one or other of these factors. Since the new pelican crossing has been in I have used it with the green man three or four times but crossed the road (in the same place) in the traditional green cross code fashion about eight times.
