None the less, St.G. DID prevent the listing process, so that they could a)paint the place white and b)sell off the base of the South Block for the horrid convenience (not) store with the scary dog which sh*ts everywhere and c)get the chance to put up Vantage. This is well documented.
Horrible St.George threw a spanner in the works (as only St.George can) to prevent the building being listed in order to do whatever they wanted. And "providing a parking lot" was NOT what they had in mind. They just put a parking lot there to attract the first lot of buyers, they always intended to put another building there.Once the first buyers into MCH had paid up for a nice tree covered parking lot, then St.George immediately put in planning for Vantage. Slimy lot.
I think this a conspiracy theory too far. The cinema was demolished long St.georges brought Alexander Fleming House and certainly long before it was convereted into flats. In fact I seem to recall that there was a long delay in the sale of the property because the then freeholder was in dispute with the DHSS over the state of repair of the builing and this had to be settled before it could be sold.
