I wrote up the results of my pancakes research on my blog.

http://www.bojates.com/words/2007/09/01/finding-good-pancakes-in-se1

The bottom line:

Joes Kitchen is great, and I'll be back there for other things, I'm sure

Cantina del Ponte doesn't strictly do pancakes, but the hotcakes are AMAZING

The Garrison is ok - good if you like single, thick pancakes

The Table's huge pancake was two sweet for my taste.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. It's been a fun few weeks :-)

I read an article in the Metro recently about a new company called Creme de la Crepe that has apparently opened on Green Dragon Court by Borough Market.

It had good reviews in the paper although I haven't tried it out yet. The article said it did both sweet and savoury pancakes. The only downside is that I think it's a stall, rather than a restaurant where you can actually sit down.

No connection, etc

PS Just googled them and found that they're only open on Fridays and Saturdays, to co-incide with the market

Hi Jemima,

I have been on a similar mission myself with not so much success. The Garrison on bermondsey street serve pancakes with clotted cream and jam and maple syrup, but I personally find them too chunky and thick. They are the best and closest so far at least. I have heard a rumour about a good place on Borough High Street closer to the borough tube station end, but will need to investigate more. Also at the other end of SE1, there is a Giraffe by Waterloo Bridge who do pancakes but then of course Giraffe is like a posh McDonalds in the weekends with kids everywhere.

Let me know if you find out more!!

Cheers
The pancakes turned out to be single huge pancakes with incredibly sweet toppings. The eggs looked like they might be better, but I'm not sure I'll head over there again.
Hi,

Can anyone recommend a decent place for pancakes for breakfast in SE1, preferably around Tower Bridge? I discovered the rather pricey breakfast at Cantina at Butlers Wharf, which does fanstastic hotcakes, but I'm still after a pancake breakfast place for a lazy weekend morning.
