Are those of us who are not queer unworthy of meeting?
No, Jackie! That´s not the point. I am sorry if you feel offended because my text says that I want to meet queer people. But from my experience, straight people are not into queer events. And as I am still exploring my new neighbourhood, I am particularly interested in meeting queer people in order to learn about queer life around here. Does this make any sense?
But of course, if you are interested in any queer events, I am happy to hear from you again.

Well, I will change my text if possible as I don´t mean to discriminate anybody!

Hi

Jac tells me that Of Mice and Men has already been picked, so I am going to include then my most favourite book. This book is about Fred and Rosemary West and the subject of this book is gruesome and horrific to say the least, there are a lot of things that will shock and disgust you in this book, but the journey the author takes you on so far for me has been second to none. This would be brilliant to discuss at a book club because everyone who I know who has read it is shell shocked.

Happy Like Murderers, Gordon Burn
These are some reviews:

Long, brilliant, horrifying ... Burns researched with great care every detail (my God, the detail) of what went on in the Wests' household over decades.' - Libby Purves, The Times

'Brilliant, bleak, unflinching ... Layer after layer, level after level, deeper and deeper, until, at last, a pricture is constructed ... His interpretations make sense. They feel right. They explain the inexplicable.'

Hi

Here are my three books for tomorrow night.

Of Mice And Men, John Steinbeck
Of Mice and Men is the story of two men, Lenny and George, who have been kicked out of their town because of an incident. While they dream of owning their own home one day, they make a living by traveling to different farms to work for $50 dollars a month. While at the recent farm, Lenny accidentally kills the bosses son's wife when she discovered that he had killed a pup by taking it away from his momma. Lenny runs back to the forest where George told him to wait if anything happened, and the rest of the workers convince George to shoot Lenny, because he's mentally ill, can't take care of himself, and has to rely on George to survive, and George can't take care of him forever.

Lord of the Flies, William Golding
Lord of the Flies is an allegorical novel by Nobel Prize-winning author William Golding. It discusses how culture created by man fails, using as an example a group of British school-boys stuck on a deserted island who try to govern themselves with disastrous results.

A Town Like Alice, Nevil Shute
Is a novel by the British author Nevil Shute about a young Englishwoman in Malaya during World War II and in outback Australia post-war.

Written from the perspective of her Scottish solicitor and trustee, it tells the story of her time as a prisoner of war in Malaya, and her post-war life in a small outback community in Australia, which she sets out to turn into 'a town like Alice', Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia.

Hi there,
We are a group of average to very good volleyball players who meet for a friendly game every Monday night at the London Nautical School, SE19NA, from 7 til 9pm during term time. We are looking for some new players, male or female, some experience of volleyball would be ideal but we have also accommodated complete beginners. Your first few sessions are free but if you decide to become a regular then there is a small charge of roughly around £5 per session. Let me know if keen.

Hi John - there are lots of people who occasionally enjoy a pub quiz so the best thing might be to suggest a venue and evening and post the details to gather volunteers for a team.... My evenings are pretty booked up at the moment but I do like a good quiz so would be happy to join if I'm free.

Hi there,

Bizarrely I've only just received a notification about your message on 18th Nov 2012 from the SE1 forum (5th April 2013).

Yes, I'm definitely up for some mountain biking. If you can email me at johnfromlondon'at'hotmail'dot'com I'll email you back my tel no. and we can chat about potential options and timings.

If there's anyone else out there interested in mountain biking now the summer is hopefully about to arrive feel free to also email me. I've also got a half decent spare mountain bike if anyone wants to come along and doesn't have a bike in London.

Cheers
