Jazz club Nolias 11 has hosted celebration for young people from Southwark involved in a youth safety project.
The half-term party on Wednesday was hosted at the Stamford Street venue by Nolia Devlin of Nolias 11 to mark the culmination of Peabody’s Big Lottery-funded Staying Safe project which has involved more than 60 young people.
Staying Safe has been designed to challenge gang culture in the capital by breaking the cycle of poverty of aspiration.
The teenagers, aware of violence, bullying and intimidation, developed marketing campaigns and held workshops to engage other young people in discussion and encourage confidence.
The initiative has also been supported by the not-for-profit Bigga Fish events organisation which provides a performance platform for young creatives.
