Mr Khan met Steve Chalke, founder of the Oasis Trust and leader of Oasis Church Waterloo, who talked about Oasis's many initiatives and projects in the Waterloo area.

He also chatted to students from Oasis College.

The mayoral candidate planted some runner bean seeds during the visit and promised to come back to see how well they grow.

After the farm visit Mr Khan went to the nearby Oasis Centre to meet church leaders from across London.

Oasis Farm Waterloo opened in June last year on formerly derelict land in Royal Street, close to St Thomas' Hospital.
