Reviews of Lye Torng Thai Restaurant and Bar
St Georges Road, London SE1
Super Soup!
In this cold weather I had a fab soup for lunch. A bit spicy and aromatic with coconut so creamy, called Tom Kha - absolutely delicious, had chicken one which also had mushrooms in, v. filling and warming.
Superb - Again!
I had a superb green curry at Lye Torng yesterday - the owner tells me they are having some new puddings in a week or two which will go very well with the food, for those, who like me, are great dessert fans.
Top Notch
The SE1 lunch club visited this place on Friday 13th - ooer, but don't be scared.
The food is really top notch - I had the Thai Green Curry, as you do, and you have a choice of meat with it - I went for chicken. Chavender went for pork and that looked scrummy too. I am a bit of a green curry snob but have to say that Lye Torng delivered the goods!
I had a pint of Stella to cool down my green-curry-gob - good value in a SE1 restaurant at £2.95 a pint.
The decor inside is great and hats off to the waitress - attentive, polite but not intrusive.
We SE1 lunch club folks are a notoriously choosy and fussy type but this place has made it on to the top 10 list, around number 5 - will we be back?
You betcha.

Good Fresh Food
I often eat here. Favourite dishes: prawn Penang dry curry which is great and up to 5pm on the cheap lunch menu, also beef Massaman - I do like meat.
Lye Torng Thai Restaurant and Bar
we've eaten here several times, and have never failed to be impressed - cheap authentic thai food, a bar, a pool table - what else could you ask for.

I've eaten in here a few times and alway's had a bad belly after.
