I will be back!
I had lunch here today for the first time and I was impressed with the food and service. The lunch time menu is fantastic and cheap to. 1 course £5, 2 courses £7, £3 course 9. Great drink selection aswel.
Give it a miss
If you want to waste 20 minutes of your Saturday evening queuing at the bar to get served, then this is the place to come. If you are sitting outside at a table, don’t be surprised if the manager comes and takes it away to give to someone else if they are eating and you’re not. This place is run for profit and not for service.
terrible
After first being not noticed for a length of time that led me to conclude we were being ignored, we received incredibly surly service at the bar from a tall Spanish chap who obviously didn't want to be there. eventually we got our Mojitos which were the worst I've ever had. I admit I've been going to Cubana less and less frequently over the last 10 years as the service has been often disappointing but now that's it. we are never going there again. If you want to spend £5 quid a drink and get sneered at for your trouble then go and enjoy...
What a let-down!
Went to Cubana last night with a friend, for a quick pre-theatre snack. We had a few Crystal beers (rather nice) and ordered some food. I ordered the mixed tapas sharing plate, and also the empanadas carne. The menu doesn't state what's on the mixed tapas plate, and when it arrived there was a meat empanada, a chicken empanada, two chorizo croquettes, and two chicken and chorizo skewers. It would've been nice if the waitress had explained that the mixed plate included an empanada, and suggested that we ordered something else, but none of this would've mattered if the food was ok. The empanadas and croquettes were greasy and tasted of little except for the deep-fryer. The skewers were ok, but bland, and didn't taste of the advertised ginger, honey and guava marinade. The food was nicely presented, and the salsa was ok, but far too oily. Cubana's not a bad place to have a beer or cocktail, but based on this experience I doubt I'd eat there again.
