Still loving the place!
My last review of Tas Pide was over 2 years ago and we have continued to go there every few months, with nothing but positive experiences. We went again on Friday and it was as good as ever - interesting food, great service and excellent value. It's great that standards haven't slipped!
Good value
Many lunchtime visits have shown good food at good prices with good service. We once had a lunchtime party there with drinks and nibbles - exceptional. We couldn't get people to go home. One guy caught the last bus. Thank you.
Good food - shame about the service
Four of us went for a meal here last night - a good selection of hot and cold starters and mains, but oh the staff just could not care less. We were served by 5 different members of staff (never a good sign) and the only thing they did promptly was bring us the bill ! I don't think we shall be going back in any hurry
Still a great place!
We've been going to Tas Pide since it opened several years ago. We've never had anything but good experiences so I'm baffled by the (out of date) negative reviews below. Anyway, three of us went again last night and it was great. The service was exceptional, even though the restaurnat was busy - the food was tasty and very good value. Long may the Tas empire thrive!
One of the worst meals I've ever had.
This was one of the worst dining experience of my life. I was very excited when I entered this beautiful restaurant, but it all went downhill from there. We were seated promptly, but then our table was ignored for a good ten minutes. Not the biggest deal, but a bit annoying; eventually we ordered some drinks. Then the server disappeared once again. Ithought it was bit odd that we hadn't gotten any bread, but then my friends suggested that perhaps it wasn't complimentry. By the end of this nightmare experience we learned that not only was the bread complimentry, but so were a small pot of olives and some dipping sauce, none of which were ever given to us. We asked for some water and after the second attempt actually got some. We finally got the attention of one server and were able to order. Our starters came and we thought things might be on the up. One of the starters had a hair in it. This is not unforgivable, but the response of the staff was. They didn't seem too concerned and acted as though we were fussy for not wanting other people's hair in our food. The manager did, after much discussion, replace the dish. At this point the staff were all glaring at us a bit too much. A server whisked away the plates from our starters the second we finished, saying our mains were ready. Great! Finally something a bit speedy. No, wrong again. The mains were not with us for another quarter of an hour. They were warm enough and ok, almost. One them was missing an egg. When we got a server (which took some doing) he said he had to check. Check? Check what, that there was no egg? After several minutes he grabbed our original server, a less than pleasant man, and had discussion. At last with many nasty looks they swept the plate away without a word. When we asked the manager what was going on, he thought it satisfactory to waive the service charge (which we weren't going to pay at this point) and offer some free coffee to make up for the poor service and dull food. Eventually we got the dish back, but it was dried out and inedible. When we tried to get our bill, so we could escape the harsh looks of the entire staff, this was a mission. It arrived with all the charges. We asked them to correct it, but this took three attempts. The manager then tapped the table and sighed, looking at his watch. He then counted the money to make sure we paid it all. We told them this was a very unpleasant experience and they simply shrugged. NEVER again.
Great restaurant!
I must let everyone know what a great place Tas Pide is. Me and my fiance ate there 1 friday after work. The interior reminds me of being on holiday (although the chairs are rather low down?) and the service was great. They brought over bread and olives with a dip and soup, all free of charge. We had 2 courses, the Pide was interesting, very filling. The filo pastry with feta and spinach was lovely. Had a really good evening there, gets busy after 7. Will defo be going back soon.
Very odd review
Sounds like a very odd review of Tas made below. Maybe an ex employee with an axe to grind? Tas Pide has always been great when I've been.
The worst ever in London
This is the only and worst ever place I have eaten at. I am a Turk and have been to most of the known turkish restaurants. The manager named Zeynep Hanim was not welcoming and was in misery all the time..

The dolma (stuffed wine leaves) was disgusting. It was like mashed rice rolled. You cannot sell that! I have politely asked Zeynep Hanim if it was home made. This was indication that "Look there is something wrong with this!" she did not bother apart from saying "Yes, it is made in restaurant"

Then the pides were average. It gave me a lot of bloating later on..

Come to pudding.. My friend ordered rice pudding.(sutlac) it looked ok until he tried to break the upper skin of pudding with his spoon. It was so dry and it has been in their fridge at least a week I would say! He could not eat it obviously.

I speak Turkish and so I complained to the manager.. Zeynep Hanim started to tell me off, extremely rude and in a bullying way. I was in shock. This lady does not know the hospitality and the magic of one small apology.

a favourite
Great place to eat on this part of the river. The pide's are (like funky pizzas and) very good. Lots of vegetarian choices (I'm not a vegetarian, but often end up not eating meat when I go here). Good service and good value.
