A real gem
Went with a friend on Xmas day. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much - especially on that day. I was wrong.

We shared a starter of warm breads and dips. We had 2 lamb steaks each cooked just right with an excellent salad and chips. There was a spicy dip to share. We had a bottle of Leffe each. Finally, an excellent authentic Turkish coffee. And The price? - came to £19.90 for both of us.

Oh - and the place is fantastically decorated and the staff are excellent. Will I go back? - it's now on my top 10 list. Nuff said.

Great food with a friendly atmosphere
I've been to EV a good number of times and the staff are always very friendly which is nice. The food tastes great, I love the salad that goes with the fish and the deserts are fab too. Bread and olives to start are fab also. A top restaurant.
The House wine is still atrocious!
A follow-up to my review of 11 August 2007:

I went here again recently with a friend. He ordered a beer to drink, I ordered the only red wine on the menu that is available by the glass and is NOT the house red. When it arrived I tasted it and it was truly disgusting.

Next time a waiter passed, I asked him if he could tell me, based on the smell, if he knew which wine it was; he sniffed it and immediately said "The house red"! So, they had brought the wrong wine, which was easily noticed because it was so vile. I should emphasise that I am not a fussy wine snob -- I very rare spend more than a fiver on any bottle in the supermarket.

Go to EV for the location, the atmosphere, or for any other reason, but DON'T order the house wine!

Poor turn out charging service on seperate sale.
we went to Ev for a birthday and I wanted to treat the birthday girl to a bottle of pink bubbly (her favourite) I went up to the waiter on the way to the toilet and said if he could get it I would pay on the way back (so not to add it to our tables bill) and take it to the table myself, when I came out the toilet I gave him the correct cash, but they had added service to it, I asked them to remove the service charge as we were dining anyway and would be paying service on the food and drinks and wine we had already had, also I was going to carry it to the table myself, they refused, I paid the extra rather than cause a scene and ruin my friends birthday but have not and will not go back again.
Ev is brilliant
Ev may not produce the most delicious food I've ever eaten (although it doesn't fall too far short) but what is great is the consistency; consistently great.

Service always excellent, price is definately value for money and setting couldn't be lovlier.

Steer *well* clear of the house red!
Had a nice meal here the other night. The food was all good, and the price reasonable: 3 starters, 2 main courses, 2 glasses of wine, complementary water and bread, for around £40.

The only downsides were (i) the service (the staff seemed to be having some sort of argument among themselves all evening), and ten minutes after ebing seated we had to ask for a menu to look at, and the (ii) house red wine that my companion had. Utterly appalling!, and about £3.40 for a small glass. (£3.40 for a whole bottle of this stuff would be expensive in a supermarket for wine of that quality). They only offer a couple of different wines by the glass, and fortunately I had the Australian Merlot, at about £3.70 a glass, which was fine.

Great value, great atmosphere
Tas Ev is the flagship restaurant for this popular Turkish group. Highly recommended for Christmas and special occasions it offers good value for money and the open kitchen with its fire allows you to see how clean and well run it is. The set menus offer an interesting selection of Turkish foods and are excellent value. A deli next door sells a range of foods to take away including their excellent bread and the coffee shop and bar are good meeting points.
Ev
I love the more casual salad bar section of this place - you can choose from numerous salads and sit in a lovely environment - a bit like the garden of eden outside - very tasty and lovely staff.
