Poor service
I've used to get take aways from this place. I could have walked to get the food, but delivery was free. Drivers get lost far too easily, food arrives cold. Management are very dismissive and indifferent to the point where they don't bother calling you back when you ask for their attention through leaving messages. I've had several drivers on the mobile, and I had to direct them through the streets as they don't know north, east, south or west. Even though I only live 4 blocks away. And some of the food you have to skim the oil into the sink before consider consuming it. If I were at a resturant and food arrived looking the way it did with my occasional take aways, I wouldn't pay and would walk away.
Great service, excellent food
I had dinner at Thai Silk last night with my girlfriend. It's a busy place and we were ten minutes late for our reservation, so we had to wait for a few minutes to get seated, but once we sat down the service was terrific. It was a bit slow as they were so busy but they were actually really attentive and the manager came out to speak to us a few times, joke around and have a friendly chat. I had a seafood dish which was exceptional and the other half had an excellent fish dish. We shared some incredibly succulent chicken satays and a pineapple rice, which was well worth the money. Had never been before but definitely going back there asap.
Very expensive and unsatisfactory takeaway
Got a meal delivered this evening. Hadn't used Thai Silk for ages but perfectly happy with both the food inhouse and the takeaway/delivery service in the past when it was based on Waterloo Road.

Mixed starters were awful, cold, greasy and mainly inedible - I think they must have been reheated in a microwave as they were very chewy. A very small portion at a rip off price of £12.50, most of it went in the bin. The portion of rice was exactly two tablespoons. A stir fry was cold, greasy and so salty it joined the starters in the bin. The best of a bad bunch was an overly thick and taste free green chicken curry. A complete waste of money at £28.

Thai Silk are the only Thai takeaway with delivery in SE1 which is unfortunate as they need a bit of competition. Will definitely not be ordering again. Back to Indian takeaways in future from the highly recommended Mango Tree.

More modern than traditional or authentic but does it very well. Good food and service and the venue is pretty with an upstairs area available for hire. Friendly place too. Recommended.
Sadly Not What Thai Silk Once Was
Thai Silk Southwark is convenient and, as others have said, good for summertime drinking with the terrace, not to mention smoking if you want that. But the food is now often mediocre whereas Thai Silk Waterloo (recently closed) used to be about excellent food and a nice atmosphere. This Thai Silk seems to be about mediocre food, drinking and noise. You have to admire the owners for their entrepreneurial skills and daring (they have just opened an O2 branch as well) but it would be nice if we could get less loud music and TV and better food. Maybe that's not the priority anymore.
Thai Silk - Mind the bill!
An attractive bar with a nice terrace area - perfect for summer boozing.

Foods ok, nothing special, however watch out when you get the bill! Friends and I have been there several times and noticed extra drinks and side orders added to our final bills!

I am sure this isn't intentional, but still very worrying.

ok thai
ok food but some really loud pop music playingmakes it hard to hear anyone not sitting right next to you. there is a rather strange empty space in the middle f the restaurant...a dance floor?? not too different to the thai food you get in a box at tesco or sainsbury
Amora Gusto
Ate at this place last night and the food was ok. The venue has been done out very impressively. Used the space well. Starters of satay prawns and stuffed chicken wings really good - mains of grilled chicken and pork not good - more wrapped in foil and baked rather than BBQ'd - and really spicy salad - ouch.
A bit generic but ok. Not special but nice to have around.
