Thanksgiving Services at St Hugh's

After than a hundred years' presence in the local community as part of the Charterhouse-in-Southwark mission, the building on the corner of Crosby Row and Porlock Street is to be demolished this summer to make way for affordable and private housing.

On the ground floor there will be a new church for St Hugh's to continue its long tradition of worship and community service.

The last Sunday in the present building will be 26 June.

There will be special thanksgiving services at 9.30am and 5pm during which the history of the building will be celebrated.

Everyone who has been part of the history of the building - as members of the congregation or of the Charterhouse clubs and projects - will be most welcome at either of those celebrations, to give thanks for the past, to meet old friends, to share memories and to say goodbye to the building.

From the beginning of July 2011 it will be 'business-as-usual' for St Hugh's, who will worship at St George the Martyr in Borough High Street at 9.30am on Sundays while the new building takes shape.
