Raw and Unpeeled

A rare opportunity to visit the market on a Sunday and explore the variety, quality and versatility of their summer ingredients through demonstrations and unique combinations of products.

The festival is the successor to last year's Food Exchange event held as part of the London Festival of Architecture.

A selection of artisan producers and traders will be ranged around the Jubilee Market. A number will come together and share their expertise by offering unique combinations of their ingredients for sale.

Amongst them will be Normande a Londres who will wash one of their fine camembert with cider from the award winning New Forest Cider Company.

The Croatian fine food specialist D’Issa will team up with Greedy Goat from Essex to create a goats milk and olive oil ice cream, while Exquisite Deli and Utobeer form an alliance over a celebration of South Tyrolean charcuterie and beers.

Food shoppers will have the opportunity to discover new skills by watching traders working with their products in the demonstration kitchen. For example, learning how to roll authentic dolma and make traditional manti with Graham Teale of Taste of Turkey.

Members of the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens will provide displays and information to inspire and educate shoppers on the opportunities to grow and tend produce and livestock in an urban environment.

Local children are invited to enter exhibits for a series of craft and cookery classes revolving around ingredients found at Borough Market, to be judged by a panel of traders.

Throughout the event afternoon teas will be served including cupcakes scented with summer flowers from Patisserie Lila and Darjeeling loose leaf teas from Tea2You.

Sideshows, salsa dance classes from Morley College and interactive ambient and ethereal melodies from harpist LongingLightning complete the line up for a stimulating day.
