The barge-driving races demonstrate the way Thames Watermen skilfully manoeuvred their barges on the Thames in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Modern-day Watermen and Lightermen compete in the main race (1pm-1.40pm Tower Bridge to Westminster Bridge), while the Newcomers' Race (2.30pm-3pm Waterloo Bridge to Tower Bridge) is for friends, family and apprentices.

There is live commentary on all the action on Millennium Bridge.
