Southwark Council marks Holocaust Memorial Day with a programme of music, poetry, testimony, and film.

Refreshments from 10am and the main programme will begin at 10.30am.

Holocaust survivor Vera Schaufeld will recall her experience on one of the Kindertransports that saw over 10,000 Jewish children saved from Nazi persecution and taken to safety in the United Kingdom.

Several Southwark secondary schools will take part, including a specially-commissioned reflection in dance on Friedrich Niemöller's famous poem, "First They Came", by students of Notre Dame RC Girls' School.

The indoor programme will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Holocaust Memorial Tree and Soviet War Memorial in Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park.
