This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

Join Eva Sajovic and Sarah Butler for a walk to launch a trail of photographs and stories around the Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre.

Includes performance by local Irish fiddler duo, a reading from writer Sarah Butler, songs about Elephant & Castle and its surrounding area by Nigel of Bermondsey and the opportunity to taste some traditional food and drink.

Meet 2.30pm at the shopping centre entrance by La Bodeguita restaurant (Walworth Road side).

Part of the programme of events linked to the Home from Home exhibition at the Cuming Museum.

Home from Home presents a snapshot of the Elephant and Castle at the beginning of the 21st century.

From the heart of the Shopping Centre, to the spaces tucked beneath the railway arches, to the Heygate estate, Home From Home celebrates the rich diversity of the area, and unearths the stories and memories of those who have made the Elephant their home.

Eva Sajovic is a Slovenian born photographer, who looks to reveal personality and counter negative stereotypes through her work. She lives and works in London, and has been photographing people and places in and around Elephant and Castle since 2007.

Sarah Butler is a writer fascinated by our relationship with place. She has created texts to accompany Eva’s images through a process of conversation and observation.
