Local families are invited to this event with free food and fun for all.
The event is sponsored by Qatari Diar and Canary Wharf Group, the joint venture partners redeveloping the Shell Centre site.
Along with community consultants and event organisers Soundings, they aim to use the Family Fun Day to encourage local families to have their say on the future of one of London's most important development sites, with a giant mural, colouring competition, interactive map of the area and an 'ideas orchard' among the activities to help achieve this.
There will be a free barbecue and soft drinks bar run by the owner of The Camel & Artichoke on Lower Marsh and light musical entertainment will be provided by London-based group, The Caribbean All Stars Steel Band.
Parents will be able to talk to the developers and share their views on boards showcasing the proposed masterplan for the site.
"The Family Fun Day is a great way for us to hear from children and parents who might not have had the opportunity to attend our workshops or exhibitions," says Howard Dawber, spokesman for the joint venture partners.
"We aim to reenergise this very important part of London, and in the process we want to take on board the views of the local community. The Family Fun Day will show that community consultation can be fun, especially for children, as well as informative."
