Filmed in and around bombsites of London's East End, Hue and Cry was among the first British comedies after the war and is now considered the first real Ealing comedy. The story follows a gang of schoolboys who discover a gang of robbers are using a children's comic to communicate their plans. When the police refuse to take them seriously, the children decide to take their own action and foil the criminals.
