Celebrated Ealing alumnus Thomas Clarke won an Oscar for his screenplay of The Lavender Hill Mob. Alec Guinness stars as the mild-mannered bank worker who decides to steal a delivery of gold bullion and enlists the help of
small businessman to disguise the gold as Eiffel Tower memorabilia. The film also features a cameo from a young Audrey Hepburn.
