Holocaust Memorial Day Act of Remembrance

Southwark Council marks Holocaust Memorial Day 2013 with an act of remembrance in words and music, hosted by the Mayor of Southwark Cllr Althea Smith, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Holocaust Memorial Tree and the Soviet War Memorial in Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park.

Refreshments will be served from 10am, followed by the Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony from 10.30am.

The keynote speaker is Baroness Neuberger DBE, senior rabbi at the West London Synagogue.

Holocaust survivor Avram Schaufeld will also speak.

The ceremony is expected to conclude at 11.30am at which point a procession to the Imperial War Museum will be led by standard bearers including members of The Royal British Legion.
