Timothy West reads the Divine Comedy, with music from the Merbecke Choir.

Poet in the City invites you to a special event exploring the life and work of the great medieval poet Dante Alighieri.

The Divine Comedy is one of those texts we all feel we know, profess to have read, but hope we don't come up against at dinner parties! Now, this iconic poem will be brought to life and audience members taken on a fantastic, vivid journey, with Dante himself as their guide, at this very special celebration of the man, his poem and its legacy.

Celebrated actor Timothy West joins leading Dante experts Robin Kirkpatrick and John Took, and award winning contemporary Florentine poet Elisa Biagini, in a unique event combining live poetry, discussion and music from the cathedral's acclaimed Merbecke Choir.
