Naming Monsters

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

Hannah Eaton investigates the psychological and social functions of migratory legends and creepy tales. She explores themes and sources as diverse as the medieval story of the Green Children of Woolpit, therapeutic writing in a Brighton primary school, and the 1979 'Misty' annual.

Hannah Eaton is the author of the graphic novel, "Naming Monsters'. She offers a poetic explanation of how existing folkloric bogeys could be used to talk about feelings that are otherwise impossible to articulate or are unspeakable. She will also be showing some folklore she made up herself, and asking whether it is OK to take the oral tradition into your own hands!
