Firing on the Foreshore

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

A fire made from Thames driftwood is extinguished by the incoming tide.

In the fire are pots made from Thames clay. Pots have been fired this way for 6,000 years in the UK.

At 12 noon you can see finds from the Thames foreshore and have your questions answered by leading archaeologist Dr Fiona Haughey who will lead a free archaeological walk along the river.
