This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

Florence Nightingale has been a popular figure in Japan for decades. In this talk, Laura Newman will use Nightingale's many appearances in comic books or manga to explore why she has had such a powerful effect on Japanese culture and nursing. It will be illustrated with colourful examples of manga, including a recent incarnation of Nightingale as a cloned schoolgirl.
