Elephant & Castle
A major exhibition showcasing the £1.5 billion regeneration of Elephant and Castle.
The exhibition will highlight the extensive work Southwark Council has undertaken over the last four years on the eve of selecting a commercial development partner that will fund the massive infrastructural changes planned over the next eight years.
With residents from the 1960s Heygate Estate already moving into stunning award winning new homes, and planning approval for five new open spaces, a pedestrian friendly town centre and 75 000 square metres of new shopping and leisure space, the Elephant’s regeneration is already well underway.
The appointment of the commercial partner is the final step of preparation required before the area launches its mammoth and exciting improvement programme.
Published in February 2004, the framework for development outlines a ten-year, £1.5bn, 170-acre redevelopment programme.
