A stunning gated community garden with fruit trees, a wildlife pond, flowerbeds, herb garden, grapevines and a winding path leading to a small fernery. The garden was opened in 2006 and is run in partnership by Tate Modern and the green community charity Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST).
The garden is enjoyed by local residents, including schoolchildren, who take part in events including planting days, pond-dipping, wildlife-spotting, gardening clubs and the very popular Halloween event. Local people can meet, dig, have fun and take pleasure in flowers, plants and animals, in what is otherwise a busy tourist thoroughfare.
