Community Film Club

1979 crime Thriller. Cert 18.

Harold Shand (Bob Hoskins), an old fashioned 1960s-style London gangster, aspires to become a legitimate businessman with the help of his girlfriend, (Helen Mirren) and the financial support of the American Mafia. Betrayal, however, lurks. The early 80s storyline weaves together such current events as low-level political and police corruption, IRA gun-running, the displacement of traditional British industry with property development, and the emerging free market economy.

Membership of the Community Film Club is primarily aimed at those living and working in Southwark and Lambeth. To become a member email [email protected] or join on the night.
