This modern classic by Carson McCullers was the hit of the 1950 Broadway season. This production, the first in London for many years, will be directed by Matthew Dunster, whose Love and Money at the Young Vic was nominated for a 2007 Olivier Award.
12 year old Frankie shares her dreams with her worldly wise maid Berenice. Desperate to join the sophisticated world of her brother and his fiancee, she schemes to leave home and become a 'member' of their wedding.
Playwright and novelist Carson McCullers is recognised as one of the great writers of the American South alongside Tennessee Williams and John Steinbeck. Apart from this play, she is best known for The Heart is a Lonely Hunter and The Ballad of the Sad Cafe.
