The Turkish pianist Idil Biret is one of the great musicians of the 20th Century. She has been a regular performer at festivals all over Europe for many decades, and has received many prestigious awards and medals, although her visits to London have been rare. She has recorded the complete works for piano by Brahms, Chopin, and Rachmaninov on CD for the Naxos label. Sales of these recordings have exceeded 2 million copies worldwide.
